Two Titles, Two Months: The
Scouting Behind Moyuka
Uchijima's WTA 125 Run

CLIENT

Moyuka Uchijima (Japan)

FORMAT

Individual professional scouting

OPPONENTS

Ten, across two title runs

SCOPE

Ten opponent scouting reports across two WTA 125 title runs, two months apart.

SOLUTION

SpinInsight provided round-by-round opponent scouting reports and video breakdowns for Uchijima and her coach.

RESULT

Two WTA 125 singles titles in a two-month span, both won through five-match runs from the Round of 32. Her ranking also rose by approximately 20 places during the run.

The Assignment

A WTA 125 draw is unforgiving. Sixteen seeds, thirty-two players, and a single loss ends the week. To win the tournament, a player has to get through five different opponents in five days, with little time between matches to prepare.

That was the environment SpinInsight was working in for Uchijima’s runs through two WTA 125 events early in the season: Antalya Challenger 1 in Turkey and L’Open 35 de Saint-Malo in France, roughly two months apart. Across both tournaments, SpinInsight produced a fresh scouting report before every round, covering ten unique opponents across two championship runs.

The job wasn’t to change how Uchijima played. It was to make sure that by the time she walked on court for each round, she and her coach had a clear understanding of the opponent and a plan for the match.

The Approach

For every one of the ten matches across both title runs, the process followed the same structure.

Study the right matches, not just recent matches

As soon as a bracket was set, SpinInsight reviewed each opponent’s three most recent matches against players with a game style similar to Uchijima’s. The goal wasn’t simply to identify patterns, but to understand which tendencies were most likely to appear in this specific matchup.

Deliver insights between rounds

Findings went straight to Uchijima’s coach in the short window between matches — not as a lengthy report to sort through overnight, but as a focused briefing that could be translated into a game plan before the next day’s match.

Built for fast decisions

Each report focused on the insights that mattered most for the next opponent. The goal was to give Uchijima and her coach clear information they could use immediately as they prepared for the next match.

The turnaround was as important as the analysis itself. In a Round of 32 draw, the next opponent is often confirmed the same day, with the following match scheduled for the next day. SpinInsight had to study a new opponent, build the scouting report, and get it to the coaching team across time zones before the players took the court.

The Results

Two different draws, ten different opponents, and the same process behind every match. That consistency is what made the support valuable. SpinInsight repeated the scouting process ten times under tournament pressure, preparing Uchijima and her coach for a different opponent in every round.

The Impact

Matches are won on court, not in a report. Uchijima was the one competing, adjusting, and closing out the biggest moments under pressure.

SpinInsight’s role was to make sure every match started with a clear understanding of the opponent and the tactical challenges ahead. Repeating that process ten times across two title runs is what made the support valuable.

What this case shows

Two title runs, ten opponents, and the same scouting process repeated from one round to the next. The case shows the value of consistent, opponent-specific preparation when there is little time between matches.
